If They Search Nearby and Do Not Find You, You Do Not Get the Job.
I work Google Business Profile, the website, and reviews so local searches turn into texts and form fills. Map-pack rankings are not a promise. A profile that looks like a real business is the start.
You Can Do Good Work and Still Lose the Map Pack.
Someone nearby searches, looks at three businesses, skims reviews, and texts the one that looks real. If the profile is thin or the website is a mess, they pick the next pin.
Empty profile
No photos, no services, hours from 2019. Google has nothing to show. Neither does the customer.
Conflicting listings
One site has the old number. Yelp has a suite you left. That is how you look closed.
The click dies on the site
The map pack worked. The website did not. Slow, vague, no way to text. See website development.
No idea what worked
GBP insights without form fills is a screenshot. I track texts and forms, not vanity views.
City in the Footer Is Not Local SEO.
Google uses relevance, distance, and prominence. You cannot fake distance. You can make the profile, the pages, and the reviews match the work you actually do.
Relevance
Right category, real services, pages that say the same thing. Google has to know what job you do.
Distance
I cannot make Oviedo look like Miami. We work the areas you actually serve. No fake pin.
Prominence
Reviews, a complete profile, and mentions that are real. I do not buy review packs.
I Set Up Local SEO the Way the Business Actually Runs.
Storefront, service-area, or both. No fake office. No 40 city pages that only change the town name. If a job needs extra listing cleanup or review ops, I bring people in for that work.
- Google Business Profile, done properly
- Name, address, phone consistent on the listings that matter
- Service pages for work you actually sell
- A review ask that a real customer can finish
- Forms and texts tracked
The website and the profile have to match.
Same name, same services, same area, same way to contact you. If Maps says one thing and the site says another, you look unreliable. Broader search work lives on the SEO page.
The List Matches the Business. Not a Package.
A storefront in Winter Park and a contractor who drives Orange County are not the same job. I will not sell you all of this if you do not need it.
Google Business Profile
Categories, services, hours, photos, posts, Q&A. Treat it like a landing page, because for a lot of people it is.
Listings that matter
Apple, Bing, Facebook, the big directories. I do not blast 200 spam citations from 2014.
Pages for the work you do
Service pages with a real service area. Not a doorway page for every suburb on the map.
Reviews
Ask after a good job. Make it easy. Reply to them. I do not fake them and I do not run a farm.
Local mentions
Chamber, suppliers, real partners. A relevant local link beats a paid directory dump.
Tracking
GBP insights, form fills, texts. If we cannot see inquiries, we are decorating a map pin.
Storefront, Service Area, or Both. Do Not Fake the Pin.
Google’s rules follow how you serve people. Wrong setup can suspend the profile. I will not put a virtual office on the map to game distance.
Storefront
Real address, real hours, photos of the place. The page and the profile should prove someone can show up.
Service area
Hide the home address if Google allows it. List the cities you actually cover. No UPS-store pin.
Multi-location
Each real location gets its own profile and its own facts. I do not clone one page across ten cities.
Profile First. Then the Site. Then Reviews.
Not a random task dump. If the profile is wrong, we do not start with blog posts.
Audit
Profile, site, listings, reviews, competitors. What is actually broken.
Correct
Hours, categories, NAP, suspended fields, missing services. The unglamorous pile.
Strengthen
Photos, posts, review asks, the service pages that should exist.
Measure
GBP, forms, texts. Keep what produces jobs. Stop what does not.
The Map Pack Is Useless If They Cannot Contact You.
Local SEO gets the click. The website and the profile have to close it. If the site cannot convert, we fix that first.
After the profile and site are honest:
- Website fixes if the click is dying
- On-page SEO for the services you sell
- Google Ads only on pages that already convert
- Landing pages for one offer, not ten
- CRM if follow-up is actually the leak
Local SEO FAQs
Straight answers. I will not sell you the map pack.
What is local SEO?
Showing up when someone nearby searches for what you do — Maps, the pack, and the site. Profile, pages, listings, reviews. Not a city-name stuffed footer.
What affects local rankings on Google?
Relevance, distance, prominence. You can improve the first and the third. You cannot move the building. Nobody honest sells #1 in the pack.
Do I need a Google Business Profile?
If you serve people nearby, yes. Storefront or service-area, set it up the way Google allows for that model. A neglected profile is a closed sign.
Can a service-area business rank locally without showing its home address?
Yes, if you qualify. Hide the home address, list the real service area, do not drop a pin on a mailbox. Break that and the profile can go down.
Should I create a page for every city I want to rank in?
No. A page has to be about real work in that market. I will not build 30 copies of the same page with a different city in the H1.
How do you measure local SEO performance?
GBP insights, the queries in Search Console, and whether forms and texts went up. Map views without inquiries do not count.
